Active Adult Centers Introduce New ‘Lighter Fare’ Menu

The Active Adult centers, sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging for Luzerne and Wyoming Counties, have recently introduced a new “Lighter Fare” menu. Active Adult Centers serve as a place for socialization, nutritional lunches, recreational and health and wellness programs. Members of the center will have a choice to enjoy a hot traditional lunch or a lighter cold meal such as: assorted salads, sandwiches or wraps.

The Active Adults and Nutrition Program are funded in part by the Older Americans Act and is an entitlement program for individuals who are 60 years of age or older. Some programs are offered to individuals 50 years of age or older. Contact the Community Services Program, at 570-822-1158.

There is no charge for the meals, however a $2.00 donation is suggested. The donations for the meals program go back into expanding the program.

Reservations can be made, at least one day in advance, by calling before 1 p. m. any of the 16 Agency sponsored centers located throughout Luzerne/Wyoming Counties.
