SJ STUDENTS EARN FITNESS AWARDS-Students in third through eighth grade at St. Jude School in Mountaintop recently completed the President’s Fitness Challenge, a program of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition. Students were awarded National Physical Fitness Awards “for commitment to, and achievement in, physical fitness for improved health and performance.” Their scores were required to be above the 50th percentile. The Presidential Physical Fitness Award was presented to students “in recognition of outstanding physical achievement and exceptional dedication to the ideal of a sound mind and a strong body.” The Presidential level required scores above the 85th percentile. The qualifying events measured flexibility, strength, endurance, speed, and agility in the categories of shuttle run, push-ups, curl-ups, and V-sit reach. Fourth grade students earning National Awards were Avery Chepolis, Lainey Conway, Carly Glaser, Kyle Kocon, Joseph Kopko, Jenna Medvetz, and Donato Strish.
