Reader Supports New School Bus Contract

Dear Editor:

It is really hard for me to understand some of the negative feedback that the school district new bus contract has received. The former carrier opted out of the contract and the contract went out to bid. There is also concern that Mr. Foley has no prior bussing experience.

I do believe Mr. Foley also started a restaurant with no prior experience. Yes the one that he cleaned up a decimated Mt. Hotel that was an historic landmark but was left to ruin by the prior owners. In 2009, Mr. Foley DONATED the building to the Mt Top Fire Company. The Fire Company now receives annual cash flow from renting the building. As quoted in the Fire Company newsletter at that time, they said “All of our members are extremely grateful to Kevin. We extend our most sincere appreciation to him. His generosity has greatly benefited our organization and our entire community.”

Mr. Foley was born in Mt. Top and lived almost his entire life in community. Now, he goes ahead and saves the school district $460,000. I wish Mt Top had a 100 more Kevin Foleys.

Why were the others bidders trying to line their pockets at the expense of our taxpayers? That’s the subject people should be talking about!! Greatjob, Mr. Foley!! Mt Top is fortunate to have you. We thank you.
