William B. Lloyd

William B. Lloyd, Clifford Township, died June 22, 2016.

Bill was born in 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio, to Robert and Ethel Weaver Beckley. After the passing of his father, Ethel married John Lloyd who adopted Bill and his brothers Robert and James. Bill graduated from Fairview High School in Mountain Top in 1948.

Bill married Rosemary McGuire in 1955 and together they raised four children, Lee Ann Lloyd, Sharon Hourigan, and Amy LeRoy, all of Mountain Top, and Bill Jr. of Castle Rock, Colo.

Bill was an excellent baseball and basketball player during high school and a consummate outdoorsman. Bill was widely recognized as one of the area’s finest fly fishermen, hunter and skier, often fishing and skiing over 100 days each season. Depending on the season, he could be found fishing the Tobyhanna at the Dream Mile Club, chasing turkeys or deer or skiing Elf Mountain. His love of the outdoors and appreciation of the beauty of nature was evident throughout his life and passed on to his children and grandchildren. Bill was a devoted friend to all who knew him and always went out of his way to lend a helping hand, offer a gentle smile and a kind word.

Along with Rosemary and his children Bill is survived by his brotherRobert; and 10 grandchildren, Kevin Hourigan, Meghan Hourigan, Jane Lloyd, Ryan LeRoy, Bridget LeRoyand Patrick LeRoy, all of Mountain Top; and Dale Miranda, Conner Lloyd, Grace Lloyd, and Isaac Lloyd, Castle Rock, Colo.

Memorial services will be held at Elk Mountain Ski Area on a later date.
