The St. Jude’s Annual International Fest will be held Saturday, June 4 from 4 p. m. until 11 p. m. and Sunday, June 5 from noon until 9 p. m. All are invited to attend this great celebration of foods from the United States, Ireland, Poland, England, Italy, Cuba, Germany, Mexico, and Lebanon. The event will also feature international desserts and beverages including wine and beer.
Local dance groups will be featured between noon and 5 p. m. including the Kerry Dancers, Emerald Isle Step Dancers, and the Nisha School of Dance (Indian Bollywood dancers). The St. Jude School choir will perform at 1:30 p. m.
Donations of theme baskets are being sought for the International Fest. If your family, friends, or business is interested in donating, please contact Mimi Murphy at 570-956-6057.
Raffle tickets for the International Fest may be dropped off in the offertory basket or brought to the Parish Office. The Grand Prize for the raffle features the winner’s choice of 7-day trip for two to Ireland, and 8-day trip for two to Italy, an 8-day cruise for two thru Venice and Greece, create your own dream vacation ($5,000 value), or $5,000 cash.
Those attending the International Fest are encouraged to bring donations for the local food bank. Canned goods and other nonperishable items are welcome. This collection helps the local food bank to keep its stock up during the summer months. A table will be at the grove entrance for placement of donations.
Parishioners are invited to join the Social Action Committee at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, June 2 from 9 a. m. until 1 p. m. Carpools leave from the Parish Center at 8:45 a. m. Call Jody or Artie at 570-710-0137.
Vacation Bible School will be held June 20-24. Student registration deadline is June 6. Forms are available online or at the Parish Office. Many adult volunteers are needed. Volunteer applications are available on the parish website at www.stjc.org.The theme for this year is “Deep Sea Discovery”.
The following supplies are needed for the VBS -paper towel tubes, foil, clothes pins, duct tape, and sponges. Also two large plastic pools are needed for the preschool playground. If anyone is willing to donate, please contact Carrie at the Parish Office.
All volunteers helping with Vacation Bible School 18 years and older must complete the diocesan 3-hour VIRTUS training program. This program will be offered Monday, June 6 at 6 p. m. in the school cafeteria. Contact Carrie Grandzol at email@example.com register.
