St. Jude’s Celebrating Ascension Of The Lord

Thursday, May 5th is the Feast of The Ascension of the Lord. This is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be celebrated at St. Jude’s on: Wednesday, May 4th at 5:45 p. m. and Thursday, May 5th at 7:00 a. m., 12: 10 p. m. (with St. Jude School Children), and 7:00 p. m. Masses will be celebrated at St. Mary’s on Wednesday, May 4 at 7 p. m. and Thursday, May 5 at 8 a. m.

Parishioners are invited to join the Social Action Committee at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, May 5 from 9 a. m. until 1 p. m. Carpools leave from the Parish Center at 8:45 a. m. Call Jody or Artie at 570-710-0137.

St. Jude School is in need of flags to fly in front of the school. If you’d like to donate a flag in memory of a loved one, please contact the school at 570-474-5803.

A Bereavement Workshop, Focusing on Hope, is being presented at the SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care & Hospice, 1710 East Broad St., Hazleton, Mondays thru June 6, 2016 from 5:30 to 7 p. m. These meetings will aid you on your bereavement journey through education and support. The five remaining workshops are free of charge and open to all those coping with the loss of a loved one. A Parish Town Hall Meeting for safety, security and traffic procedures during the construction of the new church will be held on May 19 beginning at 6:30 p. m. in the school cafeteria. All parishioners are encouraged to attend.

Vacation Bible School will be held June 20-24. Student registration is now open. Forms are available online or at the Parish Office. Volunteer applications are available on the parish website at www.stjc.org.The theme for this year is “Deep Sea Discovery”.

Anyone who is planning on being a part of the Vacation Bible School team this summer and is 18 years of age and over, must have the following information in to Carrie in order to volunteer: Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal Background Check and (if living outside the state in the past ten years) Fingerprinting, as well as have completed VIRTUS training. The following supplies are needed for the VBS -paper towel tubes, foil, clothes pins, duct tape, and sponges. If anyone is willing to donate, please contact Carrie at the Parish Office.

Grove clean-up for the International Fest will be Friday, May 20 beginning at 6 p. m. People are needed for light clean up. Please bring work gloves, rakes, leaf blowers, brooms, rags, and cleaning supplies.

St. Jude Parish Office is now located on the Church Road side of the school. The temporary offices will be the first door (D31) and it is labeled Parish Office. Also, during this temporary move, Sunday office hours will be suspended.

Weekday Masses at St. Jude’s are Monday through Friday at 7 a. m. and Wednesday at 12:10 p. m. Weekday Masses at St. Mary’s are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8 a. m. Saturday Vigil Masses are 4 p. m. at St. Jude’s and 5:30 p. m. at St. Mary’s. Sunday Masses are 7:30 a. m., 9 a. m., 10:30 a. m. and noon at St. Jude’s and 9 a. m. at St. Mary’s.
