Four Scouts from Troop 60 Mountain Top competed and took First Place for the second consecutive year in the annual Two Mountains District, NEPA Council, First Aid Meet held on Saturday April 2, 2016 at Misericordia University, Dallas PA. Hundreds of Boy Scouts, who formed 24 patrols from area district troops, participated in this event. Each patrol was presented a series of challenging first aid scenarios and was scored on how they responded to each scenario.

Health care students from Misericordia University developed the first aid, health, safety and medical scenarios. These university students monitored each scenario, assessed and scored patrols as they rotated through various medical/ first aid scenario stations. Scouts were scored on the accuracy and depth of responses pertaining to assessment of emergency situations, proper procedures/technique and demonstration of their first aid skills for each scenario. Scouts also were scored on responses to questions related to disease, illness, contributing factors, lifestyle and preventative care. Scouts implemented the patrol method based on essential group behavior, influence of members and the guidance of a patrol leader.

Troop 60 is chartered by St. Jude’s.
