Shirley Ogin Arnold, R. N., 83, of Slocum Township, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
Born on Nov. 21, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Harter) Ogin. She graduated from Nanticoke High School in 1950, and worked at RCA in Mountain Top for 12 years.
At the age of 45, Shirley enrolled in Luzerne County Community College, and graduated in 1979 with an associate’s degree in nursing. She worked at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre as a registered nurse until her retirement in 1994. Shirley loved to read, crochet and work in her garden. She loved her children and grandchildren very much.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Harry “Fagan” Arnold, in 1971 and her son, Darryl, in 2014.
Surviving are her children; Duane and wife, Linda, of Dorrance, Darlene Arnold, of Hanover Township, and Denise Webby and husband, Peter, of Slocum Township; a sister, Miriam Calabro, of Glen Lyon; brother, Ira Ogin, of Nanticoke; daughter-in-law, Renee Arnold, of White Haven; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren also survive.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 6:30 p. m. Monday in the Slocum United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 5 p. m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in the Stairville Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Slocum Township Fire and Ambulance Company. McCune Funeral Service Inc. is assisting with the arrangements.
