Lawrence G. Nardone
World War II Veteran

Lawrence G. Nardone, died Feb. 26, 2016, in the company of his wife, Jean, and daughter, Mary Rivera.

Born March 29, 1925, to the late Enrico and Assunta Nardone, Lawrence was a proud veteran of World War II.

A lifelong resident of Luzerne County, Lawrence and his family lived in the city of Wilkes-Barre until the flood of 1972, when they moved to Mountain Top.

Lawrence held memberships and positions in UNICO and was a past commander of the American Legion Mountain Post 781. Lawrence was an avid sportsman who enjoyed listening to opera, drinking wine, traveling and spending his time with his family.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Jean; his daughter, Mary and her husband, David; grandsons, James and Joshua Sherman; his brother, Henry Nardone and his wife, Beth; sisters, Vera Elias and Alma Nardone; and many nieces and nephews.

Lawrence was preceded in death by an infant brother; sisters, Mary Nardone, Norma Wilkie and Della Cardoni.

Funeral will be held 9:30 a. m. Wednesday, March 2, from The Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., Mountain Top, with a funeral Mass 10 a. m. in St. Mary R. C. Church, Dorrance. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call 4 to 7 p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital .
