RICE ELEMENTARY HOLDS SPELLING BEE-Rice Elementary hosted its annual Spelling Bee on February. Children in grades 3-6 competed against each other in their homerooms then each homeroom winner competed for an overall grade winner. Grades 5th and 6th winner then competes against each other for an overall winner. This is a Scripps National Spelling Bee qualification round. The winner will go on to compete at the county level. This year’s participants included 3rd graders Alexksander Jaskiexicz, Emerson Lazo, Allison Drust, Justin Willis, and Cayden Moran -overall grade winner. 4th graders Brayden Wanchisen, Donald Casterline, Evan Poncavage, and Lindsey Butler –overall grade winner. 5th graders Josiah Gornicz, Tessa Pollack, Mikayla Toney, and Manal Muhammad -overall grade and Spelling Bee winner. 6th graders Brienne Kaplan, Catarina Medeiros, Raina Fountain, and Shannon Griffiths -overall grade winner.
