Tractor Trailer Accident Closes Route 309 In Wright Township
TRACTOR TRAILER CRASH-Last week in Wright Township, a tractor trailer hauling liquefied latex struck a tree on Route 309. The driver was able to get out of the cab with the help of emergency responders.

On Monday, February 8, 2016 at 12:26 p. m., the Wright Township Police Department responded too a dispatch of a tractor trailer accident with fire and entrapment.

The tractor trailer, which was hauling liquefied latex to the Mountaintop Foam plant in the Crestwood Industrial Park, was traveling north on Route 309 near 504 S. Mountain Blvd. when the operator, who stated he had some type of medical episode, drove off the northbound berm and struck a tree. This caused the tractor’s cab to dislodge from the tractor and roll over on its side, trapping the driver inside.

The driver was able to remove himself from the cab with the help of emergency responders. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The trailer was transporting containers of liquefied latex. During the accident, the containers broke through the nose of the trailer and onto the ground. Some of the containers were damaged and liquid latex was spilled on the ground. The Luzerne County EMA responded along with a HAZ-MAT crew for scene clean-up.

Route 309 was closed for several hours in order for the scene to be completely cleaned.
