St. Jude’s Youth Ministry Selling Donuts February 6/7

The Youth Ministry will hold a Krispy Kreme Donut Sale after all Masses the weekend of February 6/7 in the lobby of the school. You may select a dozen traditional glazed for $7, or 1/2 dozen chocolate iced glazed, glazed raspberry filled, glazed cream filled, or glazed lemon for $7.

When a loved one dies, a support group setting offers many healing benefits. The Spiritual Care team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical center will host two free “Living with grief” series on Wednesdays during the afternoon and evening. All sessions are at the Spiritual Center, 1000 East Mountain Blvd in Wilkes-Barre.

It is recommended that participants attend all sessions. The first two sessions are Process of Grief and Bereavement: An Overview on February 3 and Caring for Yourself: Recognizing Emotion & Types of Grief on February 10. All sessions are from 2 p. m. until 3:30 p. m. or 6 p. m. until 7:30 p. m. Sessions will continue through March 9. A Memorial Service will be held March 16 from 6 p. m. until 7:30 p. m. only. Parishioners are invited to join the Social Action Committee at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, February 4 from 9 a. m. until 1 p. m. Carpools leave from the Parish Center at 8:45 a. m. Call Jody or Artie at 570-710-0137.

On Super Bowl weekend, the parish will once again celebrate “Soup-er Bowl” Sunday. To help others enjoy a zesty meal, we will collect cans of soup to stock the shelves of the local Food Bank. Please donate and help warm the hearts of our neighbors.

Fr. Jeff will begin an Adult Faith Formation series on Sunday, February 21 from 4 p. m. until 5:30 p. m. in the St. Jude School cafeteria and Tuesday, February 23 from 6:30 p. m. until 8 p. m. at St. Mary’s in Dorrance for four consecutive weeks. The topic is “The Church According to Vatican II”. All parishioners are welcome.

On June 5, the Most Rev. Joseph C. Bambera, D. D., J. C. L., Bishop of Scranton, will celebrate the Wedding Anniversary Mass at 2:30 PM in the Cathedral of Saint Peter, Scranton, for couples celebrating their 25th or 50th year of marriage in 2016. Couples will have the opportunity to renew their marriage vows. A reception will follow in the Diocesan Pastoral Center, where anniversary couples will be able to have their picture taken with the Bishop. Eligible couples should give their names and an April mailing address to the Parish Center (570-474-6315) by March 7.

Anyone who is planning on being a part of the Vacation Bible School team this summer and is 18 years of age and over, must have the following information in to Carrie in order to volunteer: Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal Background Check and (if living outside the state in the past ten years) Fingerprinting, as well as have completed VIRTUS training.
