St. Paul’s ChurchAnnounces Valentine’s, Lenten Activities

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Sunday Worship Services are scheduled at 8:30 a. m. and 11 a. m. An Adult Gathering is held at 9:30 a. m. Sunday Church School also meets at 9:30 a. m.

Pysanky Egg classes will be offered again during Lent at St. Paul’s. Beginners are welcome! There is a sign up list and a materials list on the table outside Pastor’s office. There is a one-time cost of $7.00 for materials Ginny supplies. Ginny Hildebrand has been decorating Pysanky on and off for 30 years. She knows many ways to destroy an egg and learns new ways each spring. She has also created quite a few keepers, and looks forward to introducing you to this beautiful folk art form. Classes are Sunday from 2 to 5.

Lenten Art-Let’s explore your creative side. Join us as we gather to eat, play, laugh and pray together. The first gathering is scheduled for Sunday, February 14th immediately following the 11:00 a. m. service. We’ll kick off our event with a potluck luncheon. Plan to stay and explore your creative side.

Lenten Soup Sale-During Lent, various members in the congregation will provide soup, designating the proceeds to their favorite cause. Each week during Lent, we will offer 2 different varieties of soup to be picked up each Sunday. For the week of February 13th, we will kick off this event with the choice of Piggy Stew and Bean Soup. There will be a sign up sheet to place your orders, along with additional choices for the weeks to follow.

Blood Drive-Please consider the gift of life by donating blood on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at St. Paul’s from 1pm –6 p. m.

Youth Group Valentine Dinner-Where would we be without mom and dad? Youth members are invited to sign up and join us in planning, preparing and implementing dinner in honor of some very special people-their parents. This event is (tentatively) scheduled for Sunday, February 28. Youth will gather about 3 to prepare dinner; parents are invited to join us for dinner at 5. Please sign up so we know how many to expect.

Valentine Gathering-All those who would like to join us, we will gather on Sunday, February 14th at 4:00 p. m. to celebrate Valentine’s Day together at Pastor Kaufman’s home. You are encouraged to bring your favorite appetizer and drink.

Easter Egg Sale-St. Paul’s is offering Leda’s Homemade Easter Eggs again this year. Cost will be $1.25 each. Offering milk chocolate and dark chocolate in many varieties. They will be available after both church services as well as by pre-order forms. If you have any questions or are able to assist with egg sales, please see Karen Weiss or call her at (570) 582-5773. Please pre-order eggs by March 13th.

Communion schedule is February 7th and February 21st.

A Healing Service will be held Wed., February 3rd at 11 a. m. Potluck Luncheon will follow.

Bible Group continues every Thursday afternoon at 1:00 p. m. The Story continues with a discussion on the 10 Key Events in Jesus Life.

1st Holy Communion-Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, February 10th. Students who are currently in 2nd grade or older who have yet to complete 1st Holy Communion classes are asked to contact the church office. Classes will be scheduled accordingly and students will receive their 1st Holy Communion on Thursday, March 24th.

Every third Wednesday, at 1:00 p. m. at the church will be Board Game Day. Please bring your favorite game and a snack to share. Come on out and have some fun. Next game day is February 17th.

The next WELCA meeting will be on Wed., Feb. 10 at 10 p. m. Meeting will be after the Ash Wednesday luncheon. We will be working on snowflakes, bring scissors.

Please remember that the first Sunday of each month has been declared “Food Bank Day” and members are asked to remember those less fortunate by bringing non-perishable food items in order to keep up with the demand for food. Items needed are: coffee, peanut butter, jelly, ketchup, dry soup, pudding and Jell-O mixes, and popcorn, pork & beans, canned tomatoes, canned soup, mustard, mayo, tuna, macaroni & cheese and pasta, peas, canned pasta, and noodles.

Yarn Spinners-We have 9 robes for St. Luke’s and will continue to work on the prayer shawls and baptismal blankets for Pastor. The next meeting will be January 6, 2016 and will discuss the next project.

The following weekly meetings are scheduled: Weight Watchers every Wednesday at 6:15 p. m., AA Meetings every Wednesday and Friday at 7 p. m. and Sundays at 7 p. m., NA meetings every Thursday at 6 p. m., and a Stress and Anxiety Management Support Group meets every 2nd and last Tuesdays of the month at 6:30 p. m.
