The Mountaintop Rotary Club held its first business mixer of the year on Jan. 20, allowing local professionals to network and fraternize. Rotary Club President Michelle Reilly planned the event, and hopes to have at least two more this year, so that business owners could meet and promote their enterprises.
Those who attended the event, which included a buffet dinner at King’s Restaurant, also heard from two speakers, one on the recent 309 rock construction project and one on Lehigh Valley Hospital’s upcoming new Mountain Top location.
“We chose the speakers that are involved in what’s going on in the community,” related Reilly. “Some topics are more interesting than others. This one seemed to appeal to a larger audience.”
Dominic Yannuzzi, project manager with Benesch Engineering, recapped the process of the recent rock cutout project on Route 309, which took two years to complete. Rotary members and attendees asked him questions about the process and some shared how traffic detours from it affected their businesses.
John Fletcher, president of Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton, then spoke at the mixer about the new medical facility to open soon in the Weis shopping plaza. He boasted about the quality of his company’s healthcare and expressed enthusiasm about bringing those services to Mountain Top.
