Lorraine I. Bartchak, 89, Mountain Top, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at her residence with her loving family at her side.
Born in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Louisa May (Mosso) Smith. She attended Williamsport Area schools, since it was the depression she had to leave school and go to work to help her family.
She was married to the love of her life for 35 years, Bernard J. Bartchak, passing away in 1985.
Lorraine loved country music, Days of Our Lives soap opera, romance novels, bingo and cooking and baking for holidays and family events. Her greatest joy was helping to babysit her great-granddaughter Tabitha. Lorraine had strong faith in God. Made the best of whatever came along never complained, and had an impish sense of humor.
She is preceded in death, besides her husband, by her son, Bernard J. Bartchak Jr.; sisters, Bernice Allen and Louisa May Craven.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary L. Wawryn and husband, John, Mountain Top; a granddaughter, Amanda Fontenova and husband, Geoff, Drums; a grandson, Joseph, Mass.; a great-granddaughter Tabitha; and daughter-in-law, Susan Banos, Mountain Top.
We are eternally grateful for the loving care received from all the caregivers of Hospice of the Sacred Heart especially Amy, Brooke, Julie. And her Wednesday caregiver/soap opera buddy, Crystal.
