St. Jude’s Celebrating The Solemnity Of Mary

The Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God, is a Holy Day of Obligation. The Mass schedule is as follows: St. Mary’s in Dorrance –4 p. m. Thursday, December 31; and 9 a. m. Friday, January 1. St. Jude’s Church –4 p. m. Thursday, December 31; 8 a. m. and 10 a. m. Friday, January 1.

St. Jude Parish Center hours: The Parish Office will be closed from Thursday, December 31 at noon through Sunday, January 3. The office will reopen Monday, January 4 at 9 a. m.

All St. Jude Church contributions for 2015 must be received or postmarked by December 31, 2015 in order for your tax deductible contributions to show on your 2015 statement. Your continued use of our envelope system or online giving is the only method we have to correctly itemize your gifts.

Building Bucks sales will resume the weekend of January 2/3. Complete Express Sales Ordering will resume the week of January 4, 2016.

St. Jude School gift card sales will not be held over Christmas break. Sales will resume Tuesday, January 5 and will go back to the normal Tuesday sales of 9:30 a. m. until 11:30 a. m.

Religious education will not be held on January 3/4. Classes will resume on January 10/11.

The next Caring Kids Club meeting will be January 6. They will be making scarves for the homeless men and women in Hazleton. They are in need of fleece material. Material should be at least 1 yard in length and can be dropped off at the Parish Center during business hours.

Parishioners are invited to join the Social Action Committee at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, January 7 from 9 a. m. until 1 p. m. Carpools leave from the Parish Center at 8:45 a. m. Call Jody or Artie at 570-710-0137.

The Office for Parish Life will offer training for new Extraordinary ministers of Communion on February 2, 9, and 16 from 6:30 pm. until 9 p. m. in the Diocesan Pastoral Center, 330 Wyoming Avenue in Scranton. Adult choir rehearsals will resume after Christmas beginning on Wednesday, January 13 in the church. New members are always welcome.

The following items are needed for the Mt. Top Food Bank: Boxed soup mix instead of Ramen Noodles, noodles, cream soups, baked beans, jelly peanut butter, canned fruit, tuna, mayonnaise, pudding, jello, sugar, hot chocolate and coffee.

First Sunday of each month is Food Bank Sunday! Please drop off items in the Annex part of church. Your generosity is appreciated.

Weekday Masses at St. Jude’s are Monday through Friday at 7 a. m. and Wednesday at 12:10 p. m. Weekday Masses at St. Mary’s are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8 a. m. Saturday Vigil Masses are 4 p. m. at St. Jude’s and 5:30 p. m. at St. Mary’s. Sunday Masses are 7:30 a. m., 9 a. m., 10:30 a. m. and noon at St. Jude’s and 9 a. m. at St. Mary’s.
