Keeping The Spirit At Emmanuel UCC

So, Christmas is almost here and then it will all be over –or will it? Soon we’ll be packing up the tree and trimmings, unplugging the Christmas lights, and getting back into our “normal” routines. Another Christmas Day just a memory. But should the celebration of the birth of our Savior be limited to only one day? That’s not the way it was observed in our past. There’s a reason for the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. That song reminds us that the Christmas Season, as honored by Christians around the world, begins on Christmas Day. It is the twelve-day period leading up to Epiphany, the day the Magi (three kings) find Jesus. Perhaps, like the Magi, we should keep seeking the Christ Child during this season and throughout the year. Remember: The wise still seek him. Come to Emmanuel this Christmas Season and celebrate the birth of the One who is our salvation, Jesus Christ the Lord.

Christmas Eve Candlelight celebration is scheduled at 7:30 pm on Thursday, December 24, and will include the sacrament of Holy Communion. Before our service, members will glorify God and praise him with music and song beginning at 7:00 pm. We welcome everyone to come and celebrate the birth of our Savior. Christmas is a wonderful time to recommit your life to the Lord and renew your faith. We listen to the Christmas carols, singing of the birth of the King, the hope of peace on earth, the joy of new life, the wonder of God’s love and the fulfillment of the promises of the prophets. Sunday worship service is at 10:30 am and is led by Rev. Ken Newhook, our Interim Pastor. We welcome visitors and friends to join us for worship every Sunday.
