Christmas Concert At Emmanuel UCC

Emmanuel will host a Community Christmas Concert by We Three on Sunday evening, December 13, at 7:00 pm. We Three is a trombone trio who has performed at many church concerts in our area and we are glad to have them play at Emmanuel. The concert will include a combination of sacred and secular Christmas songs and everyone is invited to join in the hymn sing of Christmas Carols. A certain jolly person is also going to make an appearance to the delight of the youngsters. There will also be refreshments after the concert so please plan to stay and mingle with the trio and your friends and neighbors.

The Sunday School will hold its Christmas Party on Saturday, December 12, at 10:00 am. We will be wrapping gifts for the children who are served by the McKinney Clinic. The Sunday School is gathering new and gently used toys to bring Christmas cheer to children who may not have such a merry Christmas without our help. This is a great way to teach our young ones the importance of sharing and the happiness it brings to both the one who gives and the one who receives. We will also assemble fruit baskets for our homebound members. Each child is asked to bring a couple of pieces of fruit for the baskets. After all that hard work, we’ll enjoy a pizza party at noon.

Also on December 12, we will practice for our Christmas program. This is dress rehearsal and we need everyone at the church at 12:30 pm. Our program will be presented on Sunday, December 13, during our worship service. In The Candles of Christmas, we hear about Christmas traditions from the Advent Candles. Each has their own view of the most important part of Christmas as they state their reason why their candle expresses the meaning of Christmas better than the others. The Prophecy Candle states that it was most important so that people would be prepared by the prophets’ teachings. The Bethlehem Candle boasts of being the birthplace of our Savior and home to the first people who learned of his birth, the shepherds. Of course, the Mary Candle claims the greatest importance as the Mother of the King of Kings while the Angle Candle asserts that without the angels no one would know of the Savior’s birth. So, who is the most important Advent Candle? Come and enjoy this version of the Christmas story to find out the answer.

Sunday worship service is at 10:30 am and is led by Rev. Ken Newhook, our Interim Pastor. We welcome visitors and friends to join us for worship every Sunday.
