Every Monday night during Advent, confessions will be heard. The schedule is as follows: December 7 after the Vigil Mass, December 14 and 21 at 7 p. m. Parishioners are encouraged to come before the last Monday in order to avoid waiting in long lines. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience peace and quiet before the Blessed Sacrament.
Parishioners are invited to join the Social Action Committee at St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, December 3 from 9 a. m. until 1 p. m. Carpools leave from the Parish Center at 8:45 a. m. Call Jody or Artie at 570-710-0137.
Breakfast with Santa will be held Saturday, December 5 from 9 a. m. until noon in the school cafeteria. Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, hash browns, juice, cocoa, and coffee. Tickets are $10 which includes a personalized Christmas ornament. There will also be children’s crafts, holiday music, and a holiday basket raffle. Professional photos with Santa will be $5.00. The Giving Tree, which remembers shut-ins and the less fortunate of the community at Christmas, has many tags requesting gifts and plants. Parishioners are asked to select a tag from the tree, purchase the gift, wrap it (unless otherwise stated) and then label the gift with the same tag. The white angel tags, the white snowman tags, the gingerbread, and the food gift certificates request that the gifts be unwrapped. Please cover all plants to protect them from the cold. To ensure that the agencies and families receive their gifts on time, all gifts must be placed under the tree by Sunday, December 6.
The Vigil Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception will be December 7 at 7 p. m.
The Kids Club is planning a caroling night at the Smith Nursing Home on December 9 at 5:30 p. m. Contact Mrs. Grandzol at the Parish Center for further information.
Women of the parish are invited to Advent by Candlelight. This Advent journey will feature an evening of fellowship, spiritual reflection, desserts, and beautiful table settings. It will be held Friday, December 11 from 6:30 p. m. until 8:00 p. m. in the school cafeteria. Terry Tokach, founder of Mountain Yoga, will present the Advent reflection. The high school Youth Group will be selling poinsettias after all Masses the weekend of December 12/13.
The 9th Annual Lessons and Carols Concert will be held on Sunday, December 20 at 4 p. m. in the church. The concert tells the story of salvation history in Christ and features the music ministry. There will be guest instrumentalists. A light reception will follow in the school cafeteria. Snow date is December 27.
