Varsity Icemen To Start Season, JV Opens With Win

The Crestwood Varsity Ice Hockey team opens it’s 2015 –2016 Friday, November 13 at Mohegan Sun Arena against the Holy Redeemer Royals.

The Crestwood team is the defending champions of the Casey Classic and the NEPASHL regular season and playoff championships. They are also trying to follow up a 2nd place finish in the Flyers Cup which is a tournament involving all high school teams from Philadelphia and surrounding area. The Crestwood ice men will be led this year by returning seniors Patrick Brennan. Tanner Kahlau, and Stefan Krupski.

The Crestwood vs Holy Redeemer game will be played following the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins vs Hershey Bears game which begins at 7:05 p. m. You must have a ticket to the Penguins game in order to attend the high school game. Crestwood is coached by Paul Eyerman, Bill Davis, Jim Edwards, and Bo Bobynskyj.

The JV Hockey team started their season on November 8th against Paupack with a 7-1 win.

Ryan Harding got the scoring going quickly with a goal assisted by Tyler Haasis in the first two minutes. Frankie Doherty scored the second goal unassisted. Paupack was able to come back with one goal of their own before the period was over.

The second period continued with Doherty scoring his second unassisted goal, followed by Kevin Frisbie scoring also unassisted.

Frisbie continued the scoring in the third period scoring another goal, this time assisted by Matthew Dopp. The next goal was a reverse with Dopp scoring, assisted by Frisbie. Kyle Katra finished the period with his own unassisted goal. All three goals in the third period were scored with Crestwood shorthanded due to penalties.

The goal was tended by Charles Helmbold, who saved 12 shots.

The team is coached by Frank Govan. The next game is scheduled for November 14th against Susquehanna.
