Everyone is complaining about the economy, the prices of everything going up, our paychecks not going far enough. It’s hard to think about being grateful, let alone thanking God for all our blessings. Blessings? What blessings? Perhaps it’s time to start thinking like the old gospel song and start counting our blessings. For many these times have been hard. It has been a difficult lesson which points out that we need to rely more on God and what he has to offer us. In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus warns the crowd about worrying. Look at the lilies of the field and the birds of the air he tells them. God provides all they need. The important word here is “need”. How much do we need and how much is want? It’s easy to feel ungrateful when we don’t get everything we see. Why can’t we count our blessings?
The season of Thanksgiving is the perfect time to show your true faith. Stop complaining and start planning. Stop envying and start aspiring. But most of all, start counting. Look around you and see what you really have. Thank God!! And have a Happy Thanksgiving!!
