Catherine M. Corgan died Oct. 28, 2015. She was a resident of Mountain Top for more than 60 years.
Born Feb. 13, 1935, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late D. Leonard Corgan and Mary Gilroy Corgan.
She was a graduate of Wyoming Seminary, Class of 1953. She graduated from The College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, N. Y., in 1957. She earned a master’s degree in library science from Columbia University in 1960.
She was a reference librarian at the Osterhout Library, Wilkes-Barre, for several years. Catherine served as the secretary of the Glen Summit Co. for more than 30 years. She served as president of The Indian Springs Water Co. until her death.
She was a member of St. Jude Parish in Mountain Top.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John A. Hourigan Jr.; and sister, Margaret M. Corgan.
She is survived by her sister, Mary
C. Roach and her husband, Bart, Little Rock, Ark.; brother, Daniel L. Corgan and his wife, Gail, Pinehurst,
N. C.; nieces, Christine Corgan Playforth, Holly Springs, N. C.; and Mary Catherine Roach, Little Rock, Ark.; nephews, Daniel L. Corgan III and his wife, Kimberly, Cary, N. C.; Andrew C. Corgan, Cary, N. C.; and Michael A. Roach and his wife, Stephanie, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Jude Church, 420 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top.
Arrangements were by McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top.
The family requests that gifts in her memory be given to King’s College.
