Crestwood came up short in a hard fought game against Dallas on Friday evening October 23 in Dallas where the Comets fell to the Mountaineers, 21-6.
After a scoreless first half, Dallas put points on the board two plays after recovering a Crestwood fumble. With 10:23 left in the quarter, David Simpson gave the Mountaineers their firs score on a one-yard run.
In the fourth quarter, Dallas increased its lead following two big plays. The first was a 34-yard gain on a screen pass from quarterback Matt Harrison to Simpson. For the Mountaineers second TD, Harrison found Tanner Gattuso for a 49 yard score. Dallas added its third and final score of the game on a 1-yard run by Harrison
Crestwood scored its only TD of the game in with less than two minutes left to play when quarterback Lance Blass connected on a 14 yard touchdown throw to Connor Sheloski.
The Comets played strong on defense, allowing the Mountaineers a total of 234 yards. Crestwood rushed for 109 yards on 38 carries and recorded 99 yards in the air for a total of 208 yards on the day.
Sheloski finished with 92 yards on eight receptions. Tanner Kahlau led the Comets in rushing with 60 yards on 18 carries, Blass carried nine times for 30 yards and Josh Malkemes carried the ball five times for 18 yards.
Crestwood (2-6) will take on Williamsport on Friday, October 30.
