Ss. SimonAnd Jude Feast Day October 28At St. Jude’s

The Feast Day for Ss. Simon and Jude will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 28. Novena prayers and a blessing with the St. Jude Relic will be said at the 7 a. m. and 1:50 p. m. Masses. All parishioners are welcome.

A candle lit living rosary will be presented by students in grades eight through twelve on Thursday, October 22 beginning at 7 p. m. Students will represent each bead of the rosary and as their bead is recited, their candle will be lit until the whole church is illuminated. Parishioners are invited to come and support the eighty young people who will be taking part in this celebration. Light refreshments will be served following the rosary.

The Feed My Sheep Ministry will be collecting slightly used or new blankets for the homeless during the month of October. Blankets may be dropped off in the entry way of St. Jude School.

Upcoming Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) will be held October 25 and November 1.

A Teen Mass will be held on Sunday, October 25 at 6 p. m. Following Mass, students in grades 7 -12 are invited to the Halloween theme party featuring ghoulish games, spooktacular food, a Halloween movie on the big screen and Halloween Minute to Win it! The cost is $5. The evening ends at 8:30 p. m.

Classes for the diocesan religious awards are forming. The “I Live My Faith” medal is for sixth grade students. “Mary, the First Disciple” is for seventh through ninth grade students. “Spirit Alive” is for tenth through twelfth grade students. All medals are for both boys and girls. Contact the Parish Center.

The presentation of a new liturgical ministry training resource from the Diocesan Office of Parish Life and breakout sessions for cantors/choir members and organists/accompanists will be held on Tuesday, October 27 at 6 p. m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish at 116 Hughes St. in Swoyersville. Everyone is invited to St. Jude School/Parish Howl-o-ween fun to come and dance the night away. It will be Friday, October 30 from 6:30 p. m. until 9 pm. at St. Jude School. The evening will feature pumpkin painting, games, food, and dancing. Registration forms were sent home with St. Jude School students and Religious Ed students. There will be a refresher course for all existing altar servers on Tuesday, November 3 at 5:30 p. m. and Thursday, November 5 at 5:30 p. m. All existing altar servers are required to attend one of the refresher sessions to be aware of some changes for altar servers.

Weekday Masses at St. Jude’s are Monday through Friday at 7 a. m. and Wednesday at 12:10 p. m. Weekday Masses at St. Mary’s are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8 a. m. Saturday Vigil Masses are 4 p. m. at St. Jude’s and 5:30 p. m. at St. Mary’s. Sunday Masses are 7:30 a. m., 9 a. m., 10:30 a. m. and noon at St. Jude’s and 9 a. m. at St. Mary’s.
