Crestwood couldn’t get on the board against visiting Wyoming Valley West last Friday evening, falling to the mighty Spartans, 33-0. The loss drops the Crestwood to 2-5 in the WVC while Valley West maintains unblemished 7-0 record.
In the first half, Crestwood preformed competitively, controlling possession of the ball and holding Valley West to 16 plays. But the Crestwood offense was only able to muster three drives. The game plan held Valley West to just one score in the opening half and a slim 7-0 lead.
The second half was a different story. While the Comets still struggled against a stingy Spartan defense led by Devon Weidman, on offense the Spartans lit up the board. A 28-yard touchdown catch by Aaron Austin put the Spartans up, 14-0. On the Comets’ next possession, Jake Shemo intercepted a pass. The possession led to 57-yard TD.
Early in the fourth quarter, Valley West tacked on another score that sealed the win.
On the night, Valley West held the Comets to 128 total yards of offense.
Crestwood will take on Dallas Friday night in an away game at 7 p. m.
