Red Cross Volunteers Open House

The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers to help with sign-in and refreshment serving at its Mountain Top blood drives. Blood drives on the mountain are typically held once a month; shifts are usually two or three hours long. If you are interested in helping the Red Cross perform its life-saving mission, please come to an open house on October 14th at the M. S. Kirby Library, 35 Kirby Ave., at 10AM-Noon. Diabetes Support Group

The Mt. Top Diabletes Support Group will be held on Thursday, October 15th from 7-9pm in St. Jude’s School Music Room. Topic for this meeting is: “Exercise & Novembet”. Speaker is Nadine Rolles, MPT. This is the last meeting of the year. Call Triangle Pharmacy at 570-474-6590 for information.

Fall Frolic & Silent Auction

The Marian Sutherland Kirby’s 11th Annual Fall Frolic & Silent Auction will be held on October 17th from 6:00-10:00pm at Theodora’s Restaurant in Drums. Fabulous feast, amazing auction items, music, dancing, good friends and great fun -Come support your library! $65 per person/ cash bar. RSVP by October 14th by calling the library at 570-474-9313. Wellness Fair

The Mountaintop Hose Company No. 1 will be conducting a Wellness Fair/Open House on Saturday, October 17th from 10am to 2pm at the firehouse. Participants in the Fair will be Geisinger and Geisinger EMS, the American Red Cross, the Mountaintop Ambulance Association and the Hose Company. Presentations/ discussions will include trauma prevention, vehicle and bike safety, fall prevention and first aid education. Demonstrations will include Hands on AED traning and fire safety prevention, including a smoke house. Hot dogs and beverages will be provided. The event is made available by a grant from Kohl’s department stores.

Slocum Fire Co. Chicken BBQ

Slocum Twp Vol. Fire Co will be having a Chicken BBQ on Oct 25th, 2015. Tickets are 9.00 for a half of chicken, baked potato, vegetable, roll and applesauce. Tickets can be purchased from any Firemen or ambulance person. You may reserve tickets calling the Fire hall also. Leave a message and Ted will call you back. 570-868-6255.
