The Marian Sutherland Kirby Library’s biggest fundraiser of the year is coming up on October 17th.
The Library’s 11th Annual Fall Frolic & Silent Auction will be held from 6:00-10:00pm at Theodora’s Restaurant in Drums. The event will feature a buffet, silent auction, music, dancing and great fun for all who attend.
Shannon Williams, library board Vice President and Fundraising Chair, says that the 11th annual Fall Frolic is the most important fundraiser of the year. She also notes that the library is celebrating its 30th year in operation.
“We are the accredited library for the Mountaintop area,” explained Shannon. “We have guidelines we must follow as part of the state library system and unlike other libraries in the state, we receive no tax money. This fundraiser is very important to maintain the library and its programs.”
The library offers the Mountaintop Community a wide variety of services in addition to the ability to borrow books. Ebooks, internet access and online databases connect users to the world. The library offers fax and copier access, large print books, magazines, newspapers and even tax forms. There are meeting rooms and computer literacy classes as well. Just last year, the Kirby Library welcomed over 52 thousand visitors and over 3 thousand attendees at their 219 programs, including special programs for teens, children and seniors.
