St. Paul’s Chicken Barbecue October 3

The Congregation of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Mountain Top encourages you to join them for worship this week.

Fall Schedule-Worship: 8:30 a. m. and 11:00 a. m.

Adopt-a-Highway is scheduled Sunday, October 4.

October 4th, 18th and 26th (Reformation Sunday)

Healing Service is scheduled Wednesday, October 7th at 11 a. m. and Wednesday, October 28th at 11 a. m. Potluck Luncheon following at noon.

Bible Study continues… Every Thursday evening at 6 we continue to study Max Lucado’s, The Story. Our study has taken us through the Old Testament and we will begin our New Testament study shortly. Every Monday afternoon at 2 p. m., we gather at Wright Manor in hopes of completing the New Testament.

A Chicken Barbecue will be held October 3 from 12 –6 pm. People are needed to work in the kitchen and as well as people to donate food such as coleslaw and corn muffins and dessert, BBQ sauce and industrial size cans of corn & green beans. A sign-up sheet will be posted shortly on the bulletin board. Tickets are $9.00 adults; $4.50 children. Gaylene Hunter will be selling the tickets after/between church services. Now is the time to sign up for one of the AARP Driver Safety Courses that will be given at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

A Refresher Course will be given Wednesday, October 7th from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. This Course is open only. The 2-part Basic Course will be held on Tuesdays, October 6 and 13th, from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. It is for individuals who have not completed a 2-part Basic or Refresher Course, within the last 3 years. Attendance to individuals who have completed either the 2-part Basic Course or Refresher Course, within the past three years.

Those who complete either of these Courses, and are 60 years of age, or older, may be eligible for a five percent car insurance discount, for the next three years. The cost for each Course is $20 per person, or $15 for AARP members, and needs to be renewed every three years sessions is required.

Students should bring pens, a driver’s license, a check payable to AARP to the first class, and their AARP membership card, if they belong to the organization.

Those wishing to participate should call Les Loomis, the instructor, at 570-885-0572 soon, as the class is limited to twenty-five.

Christian Concert Event featuring David Griffin Christian will be held October 4, 6 p. m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The event is free. A Goodwill Offering will be taken to help with cost of travel. All are welcome! Bring a friend or two to enjoy a night.

Sunday Morning gatherings are for adults each week right after 8:30 a. m. Service at 9:30 a. m. The following weekly meetings are scheduled: Weight Watchers every Wednesday at 6:15 p. m., AA Meetings every Wednesday and Friday at 7 p. m. and Sundays at 7 p. m., NA Meetings every Thursday at 6 p. m., and the Stress and Anxiety Management support group meets every 2nd and last Tuesdays of the month at 6:30.
