The American Red Cross of Northeast PA is looking to grow the number of volunteers in and around Mountain Top. A Volunteer Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14 at the Kirby Library.
Every day, the American Red Cross helps people in emergencies. Whether it’s one displaced family, thousands of disaster victims, or providing care and comfort to an ill or injured service member or veteran or support to a military family member, our vital work is made possible by people like you. The Red Cross is always looking for people with various backgrounds, talents and skill levels to help out in times of disaster or during area blood drives.
That’s why the Red Cross will host a Volunteer Open House on Wednesday, October 14 at the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library from 10 a. m. –12 p. m. The library is located at 35 Kirby Avenue in Mountain Top. New and existing volunteers are welcome to find out about the many volunteer opportunities available with the Red Cross.
The community will have the chance to meet and talk with the staff and volunteers of the Northeast PA chapter. Representatives from Volunteer Services, Disaster Services and Blood Services will be on hand.
“The Red Cross is always ready to respond to an emergency in Mountain Top,” said American Red Cross of Northeast PA Executive Director Bill Goldsworthy. “Volunteers in the community assist us in getting the help to our neighbors in need quickly and efficiently during a disaster.”
Each year, Red Cross volunteers provide food, shelter, comfort and hope to dozens of local families who face emergency situations. Thousands more receive training in lifesaving skills while other volunteers provide services to military members, veterans and their families. Others help out at the many local blood drives throughout the year.
The Red Cross invites members of the community to join them on Wednesday, October 14 at the Kirby Library in Mountain Top to become a Red Cross volunteer.
