The Marian Sutherland Kirby Library will host a third Socrates Café on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:30 pm. Individuals with inquisitive minds welcome!
Socrates Café is a gathering where people from different backgrounds get together and exchange thoughtful ideas and experiences while embracing the Socratic Method. The group models their discussions from the book of the same name by Christopher Phillips.
Participants will gather for a conversation, a meaningful
interaction in which the socialization is as important as the intellectualization. Come prepared to discuss important ideas thoughtfully and honestly, to respectfully question the ideas of others, and to carefully examine what you perceive to be logical inconsistencies.
The discussion will be facilitated by Steve Wallace who participates in several area Socrates Café groups on a regular basis. Socrates Café may become a regular event at the library if enough people are interested. The discussion will take place in the Kirby Café. Call 570-474-9313 to register.
