St. Jude Youth Sponsoring Fall Flower Sale

A Fall Flower Sale, sponsored by the students attending the National Catholic Youth Conference, will be held after all Masses on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13. The sale will feature beautiful yellow, red, orange, purple, and white hardy mums from Old Post Farms. The cost is $5 for medium sized pots and $15 for extra large pots.

St. Jude School Masses held on Wednesdays will now be celebrated at 1:50 p. m. for the rest of the school year.

Young adults and students in grades eight through twelve are invited to Abbey Faith and Music Fest in Paoil, PA on Saturday, September 19. Those attending will leave St. Jude parking lot at 8 a. m. and return around 10 p. m. This event features leading Catholic musicians, speakers in the Catholic faith, food, Mass, Reconciliation, and ending with a candlelight Eucharistic adoration. It’s a Family Matter -Living with Advanced Illness, Dying well, and the Importance of Talking About it with Family will be presented the Social Justice Committee of St. Therese’s Church on 64 Davis Street in Shavertown on Thursday, September 10 from 7 p. m. until 9 p. m. in Fr. Sammons Hall in the basement of the church. The speaker will be Dr. F. Daniel Davis, PhD, Director of Bioethics for Geisinger Health System. Parishioners are welcome.

First Communion parent meetings will be held for second graders from St. Jude School and the religious education program. Parents for St. Jude School students and Sunday CCD students are asked to meet on Sunday, September 13 at 10:10 a. m. in the school cafeteria. Parents of Monday night students are asked to meet on Monday, September 14 at 5:30 p. m. in the school cafeteria. Parents will attend a general meeting followed by a brief First Communion specific meeting.

The Knights of Columbus, combined Councils of the Wyoming Valley, will host their 39th Annual Rosary Rally on Sunday, September 13 at All Saints Parish on Willow Street in Plymouth. Parishioners are invited. A Rosary Procession will begin at 1:45 p. m. Marian Devotions will take place followed by Mass at 3 p. m. This Mass will satisfy Sunday obligation. refreshments will be served in the School Hall following Mass.

Seventh through twelfth graders are invited to become a part of the Young Family Ministry. The parish is looking to have middle and high school students work with and lead activities throughout the year aimed at the children of the parish. Examples -bingo, family movie night, Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLOW), etc. Students who are interested should contact Mrs. Grandzol at cgrandzolstjc@gmail.comor attend an informational meeting on Sunday, September 20 at 11:30 a. m. in the school library.

Saturday Vigil Masses are 4 p. m. at St. Jude’s and 5:30 p. m. at St. Mary’s. Sunday Masses are 7:30 a. m., 9 a. m., 10:30 a. m. and noon at St. Jude’s and 9 a. m. at St. Mary’s.
