Wilkes University will hold its summer commencement ceremony on Sept. 13 at 1 p. m. in the Henry Gymnasium of the Arnaud C. Marts Sports and Conference Center.
Wilkes alumna and faculty member Marianne Rexer, Mountain Top, will deliver the address. She is the 2014-2015 winner of the Carpenter Award for Distinguished Teaching and a professor of accounting in the J. Sidhu School of Business and Leadership. Rexer is a 1985 Wilkes graduate with a bachelor of science degree in accounting, and holds a master’s in taxation from Bryant University and a doctorate in accounting from Drexel University.
Rexer teaches courses in integrated management experience, financial accounting, managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, auditing, advanced managerial accounting, and accounting information systems. She began her career in auditing with a national firm in Boston and later its tax department in Providence, R. I. She then taught accounting at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, R. I., before returning to Wilkes to teach.
A widely published author of papers and articles on auditing and teaching methods, Rexer brings to Wilkes a wealth of teaching and professional experience. Her public accounting experience in auditing allowed her to concentrate in health care and real estate while developing the skills necessary to train future auditors. Rexer has authored articles and books on auditing, financial accounting, managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, health care auditing, and online teaching.
