Police, Fire Dept. Volunteer In Hobbie

George Anthony Sisco Jr., 76, Nescopeck, died Sept. 1, 2015, in the CHS Berwick Hospital Center.

George was born June 27, 1939, in Harveys Lake. He was the son of the late George Sisco Sr. and Catherine Scroupa Sisco. He was a graduate of GAR High School, Class of 1957.

George was an honorably discharged veteran serving in the U. S. Navy. He received a certificate of completion from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Justice, Bureau of Correction. He was a Free and Accepted Mason of the Equity Lodge 591.

George also was a volunteer for the police and fire departments for Hobbie Township. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, William.

Surviving are his longtime companion, Carol A. Ungemach, at home; his son, George Anthony Sisco III (Tony), Levittown; his daughters, Corrine Anders and husband, George Joseph, Southampton; and Veronica Berry and husband, Roger, Maple Shade, N. J.; his grandchildren, Colin Allen, Gwenivere Renee, Collin Parker, Dylan Patrick and Seth Xavier; his sister, Dolores Demko and husband, Michael, Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held from Simon S. Russin Funeral Home, 136 Maffett St., Plains Township, followed by Requiem services and Divine Liturgy in Ss. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Interment with military honors followed in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas.
