Public Drunkenness, Use of Synthetic Substance

The Wright Township Police Department arrested Russell Meyer, 23, 29 Yorktown Road, Mountain Top, for being under the influence of the substance suspected to be “SPICE”. Meyer was also charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness on Tuesday evening, September 1, 2015.

Police received several calls that Meyer was riding a mountain bike and also walking along State Route 309 at the intersection of William O’Sword Drive in and out of traffic. When police arrived on the scene, Meyer began to run away from the officer and was eventually taken into custody. Meyer immediately appeared visually intoxicated and disoriented. Meyer refused medical treatment on the scene.

Meyer was found to be in possession of the substance suspected to be “SPICE”. Meyer is also on probation through Luzerne County Adult Probation.

Meyer was taken to the Luzerne County Correctional facility and lodged for overnight arraignment. Magistrate Daniel O’Donell arraigned Meyer. Bail was set at $5000 straight cash. Meyer was unable to post bail.

Arresting officer was Ptlm. David Winsock, Wright Township Police Department.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled September 9, 2015 before Magisterial District Judge Ronal Swank.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The Wright Township Police Department arrested Max T. Beach, 22, 265 Alberdeen Road, Mountain Top, on August 31, 2015 for possessing items that are commonly used in making meth.

Max Beach was found sleeping on two wooden pallets in the dugout of the Alberdeen Little League Baseball fields on Laude Drive in Wright Township. Beach showed signs of disorientation and admitted to using meth over the last 24 hours along with attempting to make meth. These items were located in the bedroom of the residence at 265 Alberdeen Road.

The Pennsylvania State Police Clandestine Lad Team responded and confirmed that the items were used for making meth.

Beach was charged with trespassing, manufacturing meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officer Kristen Paulshock, Wright Township Police Department, was the arresting officer.

Beach was arraigned by Magistrate Joseph Halsey. Bail was set at $100,000 straight cash. Beach was remanded to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled September 9, 2015 before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Swank.
