Edward J. Myslowski Sr., 89, Wapwallopen, died peacefully Aug. 4, 2015.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen Myslowski.
Ed served in the 395th Field Artillery, 1st Division of the U. S Army during World War II. He later served as a Polish, German and Russian interpreter for the remainder of his tour.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Dorrance Township.
In 1957, inspired by a book he received from Congressman Dan Flood, he began planting evergreens and started what is now known as Helen and Ed’s Tree Farm. He was the owner/operator of Helen and Ed’s until his “semi-retirement” in 1996. Ed was a longtime member of the Pennsylvania and National Christmas Tree Grower’s Associations.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were a sister, Sophie Makarovich, and brothers, Frank and Tony Myslowski.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 66 years, the former Helen Regula; children, Edward J. Myslowski Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, and Helene Evanov and husband, Michael, all of Dorrance Township; and Patricia Kalinowski and husband, John, Slocum; and grandchildren, David, Alicia, Dylan, Jeremy, Andrea and Tracy. Four great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Dorrance Township. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
