Wyoming Seminary, with campuses in Kingston and Forty Fort, will begin its 172nd year of classes at the end of August.
The Upper School in Kingston will register boarding and day students on, August 29 and 30 for grades nine through 12 and postgraduate. New students will participate in orientation activities on Saturday and Sunday, and will attend a special New Student Retreat on Sunday.
On August 31, a special opening-of-school convocation service will be held at the Upper School. Sem senior and government president Samarth Desai of Shavertown will offer words of welcome and will ring the historic Cokesbury Bell 17 times, one for each decade of Wyoming Seminary’s existence, to usher in the new academic year. Sem’s new president, Kevin Rea, will address the student body.
The Lower School, located in Forty Fort, will open for its first day of classes for toddler to eighth grade students on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Rea will address the Lower School students at Convocation on Sept. 4.
Lower School Dean Dr. Kathleen Hanlon encourages all parents of preschool, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students to attend a Parents’ Back to School Night at 6:00 p. m. on Monday, August 31. A similar Back to School Night for parents of children in first and second grades will be held on Thursday, Sept. 3 at 6:00 p. m., for third and fourth grades on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 6:00 p. m., and for fifth-, sixth-and seventh-grades on Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 6:00 p. m. Eighth-grade students and their parents will get together for a Grade 8 Picnic on Sunday, August 30 at 3:00 p. m.
