Dorrance Addresses Planning, Road Issues

At the July 13 Dorrance Township Board of Supervisors meeting, Gary Zane and Bill Wengrzynek entertained a request for a Conditional approval on a Land Use Plan for the expansion of the Blue Ridge Trail Travel Plaza expansion. The plan includes new development consisting of a women’s restroom and a men’s restroom, three shower units, a deli food prep area and a laundry facility. The Button-owned enterprise is located directly off the interstate at a location convenient for amenities catering to trucks.

The discussion centered around recommendations from the township’s planning commission. As presented by Chairman Zane, the conditions require the developers to, “1. Complete improvements for PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit. Includes installation of driveways. 2. Letter of compliance from the Luzerne County Conservation District in regards to the Erosion and Sedimentation plan. 3. Planning module approval from DEP. 4. Compliance with…the Stormwater Management Ordinance. 5. Securing sewer permit from the Sewage Enforcement Officer. 6. Obtaining zoning and building permit prior to commencement of construction and comply with all other conditions of approval prior to occupancy.”
