St. Mary’s Plans Student Trip To Knoebels

St. Mary’s of Dorrance is a welcoming church. The pastor of St. Mary’s is Reverend Joseph Evanko, and Reverend Gerald Shantillo, Assistant Pastor. The weekend Mass schedule is Saturday at 5:30 p. m. and Sunday at 9 a. m.

Religious Education registrations forms are in the vestibule of the Church. Please get them in as soon as possible. Cost is $20 per students. Books have already been ordered for next year.

Any eighth grade student who missed the religious education meeting is asked to call Pam Urbanski to get important information 474-6315 ext 228.

A Trip to Knoebels Amusement Park with St. Jude for students who will be entering 9th thru 12th grade in the Fall is scheduled June 19. The group will leave St. Jude School promptly 4 p. m. Please arrive between 3:30 p. m. and 3:45 p. m. We will return approximately 11 p. m. The cost is $33 for the Sundown Plan that includes all roller coasters Please bring extra money for food. We will not be swimming.

The Rosary in the Prayer Garden will continue on the thirteenth of the month at 11 a. m. In case of inclement weather the Rosary will move into the Church. The Rosary will move indoors in the fall.

The Outreach Committee is raffling off a beautiful Hand Made Afghan! Chances are being sold after Mass for $1 or 15 for $10. The winning ticket will be drawn May 31 after Mass. The Outreach Committee is collection gently used small medical equipment to be loaned out to people in need. Please call Michele Clark if you have walkers, tub chairs, canes, bedside toilets or other items you would like to donate, or if you would like to borrow any items.

American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held Sunday, June 7 from 8:30 a. m. to 1:30 p. m. in the social hall. Appointment sheets are in the back of the church. Blood supplies are very low during summer months. Please give the gift of life. For more information pleases call 1-800-RED CROSS.

Bazaar 2015 will be held Saturday, June 27 from 4-11 p. m. and Sunday, June 28 from 4-10 p. m. The next meeting is Thursday, May 28 at 7p.m. . in the dining room. Babysitting is available! Booth chairs needed for a few stands (Big 6, Animal Ring Toss, and Candy Toss) For more information call John 570.379.3721. Items Needed include Theme Baskets and wine & spirits during office hours. Baskets may be donated by families and/or businesses. Need an idea.. call the office.

Rummage Sale items can be dropped off beginning Monday, June 8 during office hours. Please no clothing, shoes, or stuffed animals. Softly used household items, books, toys, holiday items, gym equipment, etc. will be accepted.

Raffle Tickets were mailed last week. If you did not receive yours please call the office to update your contact information. Get your tickets in by Wed, June 10 to be included in the Early Bird Raffle. You could win $100!

Pierogi Making: Help is needed for this huge project. We will be making pierogi on Sat/Sun -June 13 & 14 at 9 a. m. Mon-Thu, June 15-18, immediately following Mass.

Cooking donations: Donations are needed for items necessary to prepare food for the bazaar stand. Items can be dropped off beginning June 9 and are needed by Wed, June 17. Items needed: tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, clams, clam juice, decaffeinated coffee, Minute rice, vinegar, sugar, ketchup

By now, we hope everyone has noticed our new reflective sign! Thank you to the Knights of Columbus for installing the sign and for their very generous monetary donation. Donations are being accepted to help pay the balance of the cost of the sign. Donations may be dropped in the offertory basket, or you may call the parish office, or talk to Father Joe 570-474-6315 ext 227 for more information.

Altar Servers are still needed. To sign up for a class please call the parish office. Class is about an hour.

The parish continues to participating in the Loaves and Fishes Program to benefit the Saint Vince de Paul Soup Kitchen. This month’s item: Non-dairy Creamer.

Bishop Bambera has appointed Fr. Jerry pastor of St. Matthew’s parish in East Stroudsburg effective June 29, 2015. We will miss him but know he will do great ministry in the Poconos. We give thanks for Fr. Jerry’s service to parish and will celebrate his ministry here the weekend of June 20/21. Look for more information in the coming weeks. Bishop Bambera has promised to appoint a new Assistant Pastor for us.
