Making A Difference Ministries along with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Mountain Top presents part three of their Christian Concert Series on May 17 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, RT. 309.
The concert will feature national and local recording artist/singer songwriter Benjamin Horreverts from NY. The concert is scheduled 6:30 p. m. to 8 p. m.
Afterward there will be a Meet and Greet with the artist and signing of CD’s. This is a free event. A Goodwill Offering will be taken to help with cost of travel. All are welcome.
The Bike for World Hunger is coming! Saturday, May 16 from 9 a. m. to 1 pm at the Bob Rodale Fitness and Cycling Park in Trexlertown. This is an annual event sponsored by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod to raise money for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal. It’s an opportunity to join with other people of faith for a day to do something to care for the 1.4 billion people in our world who are hungry. You can ride a bike, or walk, or run or rollerblade. By getting sponsors, you raise money for the World Hunger Appeal. So grab your helmet and your sunscreen and some friends and bike for World Hunger!
St. Paul’s is happy to announce that they will once again offer a Summer Camp Program for children ages 3 -5 as well as a new school age program for children who completed kindergarten through 2nd grade. We will offer two, 8 day sessions (for the 3-5 year old) which will run Monday through Thursday from 9 am –12 pm at a cost of $96 per session. Session 1 runs: July 6-16 and session 2 runs: July 20 -30. For children who have completed kindergarten, 1st or 2nd grade the session runs July 20 –30 (9am to 12 pm). New organist-Dr. Judy Marley is a native of West Hazleton who returned to live in the area two years ago after taking very early retirement from the Graduate Faculty at the University of South Carolina, where she served as a professor within the School of Information Studies. A musician from a very early age, Judy is looking forward to making music with and for you as your Music Director and a member of the Upbeat Band.
The ladies of the church will be making homemade Pasties (onion or without onion); they will be making them on Saturday, May 16 and they will be available for pick-up on Sunday, May 17 after church. Cost is $6.00 and this is to help defray the cost of the snow plowing bill. A sign-up sheet is located on the bulletin board. For more information, call Kathy Lines at 474-5585.
St. Paul’s is sponsoring a Chicken Barbeque on Saturday, June13th. People are needed to work in the kitchen and as well as people to donate food such as coleslaw and corn muffins and dessert. We need BBQ sauce and industrial size cans of corn. A sign-up sheet is located on table next to Pastor’s office. Many hands make light work. Tickets are $9 adults; $4.50 children. --12:00 –6:00 pm. Board Game Day is every third Wednesday, at 1:00 p. m. at the church will be board game day. Please bring your favorite game and a snack to share. Come on out and have some fun. A sign-up sheet will be located on the table in the narthex. Next game day
Yarn Spinners will continue to meet on the first Wednesday of each month. We continue to work on Baptismal blankets for Pastor Michelle, and items for Wilkes Barre General. If you need any yearn please let Lois know. If you are able to crochet or knit or would like to learn we cordially invite you to join us for lessons that will be given by Lois. If you cannot make these meetings call Lois Burge at 570 474 5502 to volunteer your talents by making these items at home.
Please remember the first Sunday of each month has been declared Food Bank Day, we ask that all remember the less fortunate by bringing non perishable items in order to keep up with the demand for food.
Bible Study is held every Monday at 2 p. m. at Wright Manor in Mountain Top. Pastor Michelle Kaufman holds a Bible Study that is open to all who would like to participate, and you your evenings are not free this is the way of learning and sharing with others who are also interested in the Bible, and how to understand its meanings.
Sunday Morning gatherings are for adults each week right after 8:30 a. m. Service at 9:30 a. m. so members can get together and discuss any topic that they have interest in, and have some fellowship and discuss them.
Weekly meetings are as follows: Weight Watchers every Wednesday at 6:15 p. m., AA meetings every Wednesday and Friday at 7 p. m. and and Sundays at 7 p. m., NA meetings every Thursday at 6 p. m., and Stress and Anxiety Management every 2nd and last Tuesdays of the month at 6:30 pm.
