St. Jude’s 4th Annual International Fest will be held Saturday, May 30 from 4 p. m. until 11 p. m. and Sunday, May 31 from noon until 9 p. m. Three raffle prizes are being offered: a dream vacation or $5,000 cash, custom LASIK procedure with Intralase, and one week beach house vacation (sleeps 12) in Emerald Isle, North Carolina. Parishioners are invited to mark their calendar for this exciting event.

The Spiritual Care team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center is offering a free bereavement support group series on Wednesdays during the afternoon and evenings beginning May 6. Afternoon sessions are 2 p. m. -3:30 -.m. Evening sessions are 6 p. m. -7:30 p. m. On May 6, the topic will be Process of Grief & Bereavement: An Overview. The May 13 topic will be Caring for Yourself: Recognizing Emotion and Types of Grief. Call 570-808-5539 for further info.
On May 9 and 10, the parish will support the Pro-Life Center in Wilkes-Barre with a carnation drive. Carnations will be available after all Masses at the church doors for a $1 donation. Flowers may be taken home or placed in a vase on the altar.
Clean up in the grove for the International Fest will be Sunday May 17 beginning at 1:30 pm. Volunteers are needed to help with light clean up. Bring work gloves, rakes, leaf blowers, brooms, rags, and cleaning supplies. This is a great project for families, scouts, and anyone willing to pitch in.
It’s time to register for Vacation Bible School. Children three years old to students entering fifth grade are invited to register via the parish website. Forms are also available in the Parish Center. Bible school will run from June 22 through 26 from 9 a. m. until noon. The cost is $35 per child. This year’s theme is “Bible Blast to the Past”. The registration deadline is June 5 -NO exceptions. Volunteers are also still needed.
The following items are needed for the Mt. Top Food Bank: jelly, mayonnaise, peanut butter, canned fruit, coffee, noodles, jello, tuna, sugar, pudding, cream soups, baked beans, and boxed soup mix instead of Ramon noodles. Please drop off the items in the annex part of our church.
