In 1775, before the founding of America, the Continental Congress proclaimed a National Day of Prayer. In 1952, Congress reestablished an annual day of prayer, and in 1988 that law was amended to designate the first Thursday in May as the National Day of Prayer.
The 2015 theme for the National Day of Prayer is “Lord, Hear Our Cry”.
This year’s National Day of Prayer event will be held on Thursday, May 7 at 7 p. m. at the Fellowship Hall of the Presbyterian Church of Mountain Top. This is the sixth year the church is hosting an event to pray for our nation, the president, the military, the church and the family.
All are invited and encouraged to attend.
