Crestwood football standouts Frank Aigeldinger and Lance Blass were named to the Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class 3A All-State team. Aigeldinger and Blass were the only players from the Wyoming Valley Conference selected for the honor.
Aigeldinger, a 6’1” 220-pound senior running back, rushed for a Crestwood record of 2,150 yards and 26 touchdowns. Aigeldinger concludes his high school career as the Comets’ all-time leading rusher with 4,499 yards. At the linebacker position, Aigeldinger recorded 148 tackles that included 19 tackles for loss and five sacks.
Blass is the only sophomore named to a Class 3A team. The 6’1” 183 sophomore finished atop the WVCpound stats with nine interceptions, 10 overall. In addition, on offense Blass caught three passes for 62 yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 93 yards on 10 carries.
Crestwood finished its best season in school history with a record of 12-1 and set a school record for wins in a season. Crestwood won the WVC Division 3A championship along with their first District 2 football title. The Comets played in the PIAA state playoffs for the first time in school history, falling to Bethlehem Catholic in the first round.
