Geisinger Health System broke ground for a new $7.3 million Comprehensive Family Care facility on Route 309 in Fairview Township on July 14. The 21,000 square foot building has an expected completion date for Summer 2015.
The new complex will consolidate Geisinger’s primary care practice on Kirby Ave. and the pediatrics office on S. Mountain Blvd. The Geisinger Careworks facility in the Weis Plaza will remain in its current location. The new complex will have three primary care doctors and one mid-level physician assistant: Sandeep Mehrok, MD, internal medicine; Amanda Tamm, DO, family medicine; Kenneth Tomczyk, DO, family medicine; Lindsay Stavish, PA-C, physician assistant. Geisinger plans to add another physician within a few years.
The Pediatric unit will have one pediatrician and one pediatric endocrinologist: Maria Alexies Samonte, MD, pediatrics; Naghma Aijaz, MD, pediatric endocrinology; and Eduardo Tron, MD, pediatric gastroenterology. Gastroenterology outreach, with other specialties will be added as needed. An additional pediatrician will be added.
New services include radiology and the CareSite Pharmacy. A lab already in place at the current Kirby Avenue location will move also.
Borton Lawson Engineering Architecture is overseeing the new construction project.
