Holy Redeemer High School science and math students competed in the state PJAS (Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science) competition at Penn State University in State College. All students won first or second place awards.
Cameron Brennan won the Marine Science Award and will spend a week in a science camp at Chincoteague Bay Field Station in Virginia. He also won a first place award in ecology.
Holy Redeemer students who earned first place awards in mathematics are Jamie Carty, Jenna Jachimiak, Monica Morrison, Bryce Partlow, Shelby Smith, and Madison White. First place winners in other areas are Collin Halagarda, physics; Alyssa Christian and Sarah Thomas, Mountaintop, chemistry; Julia Randazzo, behavioral psychology; Thea Seasock, biology; Angela Malinovitch, microbiology.
Second place winners in math are Victoria Fulton, Collin Gatrone, Amanda Halchak, Anthony Khoudary, Hailey Noss, and Abigail Truschel. Other second place winners are Caitlin Croke, Mountaintop, physics; Olivia Greer, behavioral psychology; Alexia Mazzarella and Arvind Murali, microbiology.
Perseverance awards were given to Caitlin Croke, Mountaintop, (5 years) and Arvind Murali (4 years).
