Week Of Service, Week Of Hope Planned For St. Jude Youth

Week of Service...Week of Hope (July 28 through 31) is open to students in grades 8 through 12. Everyone will gather at St. Jude’s each day at 8 a. m. Each day, the students will go out into the community to serve those in need at places like the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, nursing homes, CEO Kid’s Camp, VOA, Ruth’s Place, and SPCA. The cost for the week is $30 which includes a t-shirt, bus transportation, snacks each day, and a pizza party on the last day. Registrations are due at the Parish Center by July 18. None will be accepted after this date. The opening prayer service for one parent and student will be Sunday, July 27 at 6 p. m. Following the prayer service, information on the week will be discussed. An ice cream social will follow.

Youth of the parish are invited to make a splash on August 1 at Camel Beach Water Park. The cost is $42 which includes admission, transportation, and a meal voucher. Registration forms, Hold Harmless Agreements, and money are due at the Parish Center by July 18. No forms will be taken after this date.

The Pilgrim Virgin Statue will be at the home of Mrs. Margaret Manley through July 18. For more information, call Gloria at 868-5346.

The youth of St. Jude Parish are inviting senior citizens for an afternoon of fun, food, and fellowship in the St. Jude School cafeteria. On Wednesday, July 30, seniors are invited to attend a Mass of Healing in the church at 11 a. m. A summer picnic and party will follow. Registration is a must! Call the Parish Center by July 23 to register.

The First Annual St. Jude Parish Rummage Sale will be held August 8, 9, and 10 in the St. Jude School gym during the 2014 church picnic. The rummage sale will be limited to clean, usable household items, books, jewelry, toys, exercise items, furniture, and dishes. No clothing items will be available. Donations may be dropped off at the following times: Friday, July 25 and Friday, August 1 from 4 p. m. until 8 p. m.; and Saturday, July 26 and Saturday, August 2 from 9 a. m. until 1 p. m. The following items are needed for the Mt. Top Food Bank: canned fruit, jelly, mayonnaise, peanut butter, coffee, tuna, and sugar. Please drop off the items in the annex part of our church.

The Social Action Committee is collecting Pack-N-Plays, baby swings, high chairs, bath tubs, gates, and clothes up to 2 years old for Pennsylvanians for Human Life. No other items can be accepted. Anyone who would like to donate is asked to contact the Parish Center ext. 250 and leave a message.

Weekday Masses at St. Jude’s are Monday through Friday at 7 a. m. and Wednesday at 12:10 p. m. Weekday Masses at St. Mary’s are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 8 a. m. Saturday Vigil Masses are 4 p. m. at St. Jude’s and 5:30 p. m. at St. Mary’s. Sunday Masses are 7:30 a. m., 9 a. m., 10:30 a. m. and noon at St. Jude’s and 9 a. m. at St. Mary’s.
