Driving Under the Influence
Bryan Scott Reamer, age 34, 90 Kliti Road Berwick, PA was charged with Driving Under the Influence and Careless Driving on June 27 by Tpr. Justin Sannie, Pennsylvania State Police.
Trooper Daniel Spath was on routine patrol travelling east on Interstate 80 approaching mile marker 285.5 in Dennison Township when he observed a white truck parked on the south shoulder displaying its hazard lights. Tpr. Spath approached the passenger side of the vehicle and used a flashlight to look inside. He observed a male sitting in the drivers seat lying across the center console of the vehicle. He appeared to be sleeping. The vehicle was running and its lights were on. Tpr. Spath opened the door and Reamer did not respond. He yelled to him and got his attention asking him where he was going and if he was OK. Reamer said he was on his way to work. The trooper asked him it he had been drinking. Reamer related that he had had a few. Trooper Spath reported that he could smell an extremely strong smell of intoxicating beverage emitting from Reamer’s breath when he spoke. Reamer’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy. Reamer was very confused about where he was going and where he was coming from. Reamer related that he was on his way to work at Geisinger Hospital in Danville, PA. He said he was from Berwick and believed he got on the Interstate the wrong way.
Trooper Spath asked him to perform standard field sobriety test. He displayed numerous signs of intoxication. A preliminary breath test showed a .15% Blood Alcohol Concentration. Blood was drawn at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton. Blood analysis was pending at the time of the filing. Reamer was not released due to him being unable to find a responsible adult to be released to.
