18U Warriors Win NJ Showcase, Six Members To Play College Ball

Six members of the Valley Regional Warriors 18U Class A softball team that recently captured the prestigious Jersey Outlaw college showcase will continue their illustrious softball careers at Pennsylvania colleges.

Now in its fourth year of existence, the Warriors Showcase team continues to excel by attracting college-caliber talent from regional high schools. This year’s squad went 3-0 in Sunday play to capture the Black Division of the Jersey Outlaw college showcase.

“It was a great team effort,” said Warriors head coach Ray Letcher. “We got excellent pitching from Crestwood’s Alyssa Davies and Marian Catholic’s Bethany Shaud along with some outstanding fielding and timely hitting.”

The Warrior Showcase organization had already assisted seven players with the transition to college ball in Pennsylvania and Maryland. This year’s squad will send off a half dozen more.

Alyssa Davies of Crestwood has committed to Bloomsburg University.

The Warriors, who annually play in three fall and seven summer showcases, will be holding tryouts for the 2014-’15 team this August at Freedom Park in Drums and at Marian Catholic High School in Hometown.
