KOLLAR FIRST TO EARN SUPERNOVA AWARD-On May 27, Joshua Kollar, Webelos I, was the first Cub Scout in Pack 106 Mountain Top to earn the Boy Scouts of America Dr. Charles H. Townes Supernova Award for completing rigorous requirements in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The SuperNova Award requirements include earning the Scholar, Scientist and Engineer Activity Pins along with earning 3 other Webelos Activity Badges plus course work, individual science experiments and reporting on STEM-related fields that show how science, technology, engineering and mathematics apply to everyday living and the world around them. Due to the intensity of this award, a scout must work with a BSA approved mentor to guide him through the process. Joshua was mentored by Mark Bensavage, Science Teacher at Rice Elementary.
