MMI Students Inducted Into Math Honor Society

MMI Preparatory School held inductions for its newly formed chapter of the Mathematics Honor Society.

MMI mathematics instructor Gerard Pierotti opened the ceremonies and welcomed students, parents, family members and friends. The guest speaker was Kirsten Young, a 2013 graduate of MMI who is majoring in biology at Bucknell University. Charles Bower provided piano accompaniment.

New members who distinguished themselves as outstanding mathematics students were inducted into the Mu Alpha Theta chapter at MMI, which was established by seniors Alexis Williams and Kristen Purcell.

To be inducted into the society, students must have a cumulative grade-point average of 90 in mathematics and 83 overall. They must have studied two years of high school mathematics, including Algebra I and II and Geometry.

The following Mountaintop students joined MMI’s chapter:

Senior Alec Andes, son of Brian and Jodell Andes, and Juniors Claire Sheen, daughter of Kwangsup and Chaeyun Sheen; Tristan Gibbons, son of Russell and Edna Gibbons.
