The third annual St. Jude Parish International Fest in the Grove will be held on Saturday, May 31 (4-11 pm) and Sunday, June 1 (noon-9 pm) on the parish grounds at 420 South Mountain Blvd., in Mountain Top. is partnering with St. Jude’s to fill “the truck” with canned goods to distribute to local food banks.
The truck is 15 feet long and 8 feet high and will be located at the entrance of the grove. St. Jude Parish and Carone’s are challenging the community and all those attending the festival to “fill” the truck with canned goods. To help with that challenge, Carone’s, a key sponsor of the International Fest, will match every ShurSave brand can good –buy a ShurSave can of food and donate it and Carone’s will donate another can. Carone’s will also be distributing flyers for the International Fest and will have a collection barrel at the service desk starting May 21 for customers to make their can donation as they leave the store.
The International Fest in the Grove kicks off the summer picnic season on the mountain. The ethnic foods that will be featured include Homemade Pierogi, Potato Pancakes, Haluski, Kielbasi, Fish ‘n Chips, Shepherd’s Pie, Kibbi, Hummus, Cannelloni, Tacos and more including all American favorites and desserts. A large selection of international beer and wine will be available. The choir from St. Jude School will perform at 1 p. m. on Sunday followed by various dance groups including the Kerry Irish Step Dancers, the Kala School of Indian Dance, Without Walls Dance Company, Conservatory of Dance and Encore Dance. Music will be provided by Better with Beer on Saturday (6-10 pm) and The Golden Tones polka band on Sunday (4-8 pm.) There will be lots of activities for children including a Kid’s World Walkabout, which is a fun way for youngsters to learn about other countries, and their cultures. Youngsters will also enjoy Damian the Magician performing his strolling magic act throughout the grove on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm. There will also be basket raffles and a Dream Vacation will be raffled off Sunday evening. Raffle tickets are now available at the Parish Center or can be purchased at the festival.
After a long cold winter on the mountain, plan on joining family and friends on May 31 and June 1, in The Grove on the grounds of St. Jude Parish for the International Fest and help those in need by bringing a can of food to fill the truck.
